When I arrive Andrea was right there to greet me. She immediately started a conversation and introduced me to everyone. There was no rush to check in, to pay, etc. Andrea makes you feel like you just arrived home.

The room is very clean and organized pretty much how I expected it. The washroom is a single shower and single toilet. The common room is open concept with kitchen.

Andrea has some food for purchase and I found her prices cheaper than buying it from the local grocery store.

Basically this hostel is a single floor house turned into a hostel. I like it. The owner makes it feel like a place you want to stay at.

She also interacts with all of the guests to make them interact. This was my first hostel where I met everyone and made 5 new friends. 4 of whom, I still keep in contact with still.

The hostel location is about 5 km to Russell, but there is a ferry for 1 dollar that goes across the water to Opua where there is a diner and local store.

The view from the hostel is amazing. You will have to see it to know what I mean.

Quit, clean, extremely friendly, relaxing, fast wifi, fun

Not within walking distance to Russell, but not really a con. I easily hitched a ride within minutes each day.

9.5 / 10

Final thoughts:
By far, one of the best stays I have ever had. Not just in a hostel.

If you are single and want to meet new travelers, this is the place to do it. If you want a relaxing time, or not, this is the place! I can’t say enough about Andrea’s hostel. I loved it here.

To find out more on how I got here, check out my other posting.
